“My mind is too busy for me to fall asleep.”
“I don’t see a future for myself. Life is hopeless.”
“I am constantly restless and on edge. It’s impossible to get any work done.”
“I lose control and my emotions are all over the place.”
I see psychotherapy as a process through which a person - with the help of a trained therapist - explores more about themselves, gains insight into what cause and maintain their current distress, and learns to find a way to be “unstuck.”
The therapist’s role is to provide a non-judgemental, empathic, and validating environment, one that allows the client to feel accepted and understood. Through this unconditional acceptance, the client begins to see hope, make meaningful changes to build a more rewarding life, and grow as an individual.
